We started our Monday morning by stalking the weather… seriously. I was checking Accuweather, Dark Sky & Weather.com every 5 minutes, Kerri was too, and so was my roommate! Each forecast we found showed something completely different, but most showed that the rain wasn’t going to be an issue! We were so hopeful that we could make this sweet DC engagement session a reality because Kerri & Matt drove in all the way from Kennett Square, PA!! (What an honor!!!)
If you’ve spent any time in the DMV recently, you probably know that the sun has been nowhere to be found. We have had so much rain and so many cloudy days in September—this girl sure is thankful to have some sunshine today!!! We were hoping that the forecast would give us a quick two hour break on Monday night! I can definitely work with clouds, but rain is a little tougher to deal with during engagement sessions…
After enough radar stalking, we decided that the forecast looked hopeful enough to give us some time to get these cuties in front of my camera. We had about 40 minutes of dry shooting time before the sky absolutely opened up. Fortunately, these two were so graceful, snuggled perfectly under their umbrella and laughed their entire way through the less-than-ideal situation. How in the world did I get so lucky to have clients that are THIS gorgeous and are also so incredibly gracious?!
These two were set up by family friends, and the first time they met at a get together, Kerri spent the night hanging out with the kiddos. Matt left soon afterwards and all of their friends wished they had spent the night getting to know each other!! Fast forward a bit, and they had their first date. After that first date though, the rest was history! Kerri & Matt truly feel so lucky to have found one another, and after being with them for five seconds, I could tell just how perfect they are for each other. They both know just how to make the other laugh, they look at each other in the sweetest way, and you can really see that they are the other’s absolute match when they are together. They are considerate, they are so incredibly joyful, and they have amazing style too!
We started out their engagement session in Georgetown! Can you believe that they were shopping for their WEDDING BANDS just moments before behind this ivy covered wall?!
We made our way to Meridian Hill Park, and the rain started and just wouldn’t stop! Only two people in love like Kerri & Matt can make the rain look THAT good!!! I am SO thankful for their willingness to brave the rain! (and for clear umbrellas too!!!)
Time for some beer! We wrapped their session up at Dacha Beer Garden in Shaw. Thank you, Dacha, for having us! I think I’ll forever be obsessed with their bistro lights and custom beer garden glassware!!
