Ok… I am just GIDDY about sharing this session with you! The Jefferson Memorial is one of my absolute favorite places to photograph, and boy, it did NOT disappoint during Jessica and Stephen’s engagement session! Now… I think I need to preface this entire post by saying that I require all engagement sessions at memorials and monuments on the National Mall to be held right at sunrise to help with crowds. (Which means in the winter, it is VERY cold and also VERY early!) Luckily, these two didn’t mind and arrived right on time, with their sweet pup and a very helpful friend in tow!
Jessica and Stephen both went to college at The Catholic University of America right in DC! They didn’t officially meet or become interested in each other until their senior year. After seeing each other around every now and then, they both let a mutual friend know that they were interested in one another. When Stephen asked Jessica to his Rugby Formal, that was it! They’ve been together ever since…. they’re best friends, easy going, and if you ask me, they have really good taste. (Just look at Jessica’s ring and that gorgeous pink dress!)
Stephen is currently stationed in San Diego. Back in November, he had told Jessica that he didn’t think he would be able to make it to her family’s Thanksgiving as they had originally planned. Little did Jessica know though, a surprise was already in the works! When she got off her plane in Florida for Thanksgiving, she found Stephen waiting there for her. On Thanksgiving Day, they took a walk on the beach… before she knew it, Stephen was down on one knee, asking Jessica to spend forever with him! There’s something about sweet proposal stories like theirs that get me… EVERY. TIME.
We met early on Saturday morning for their engagement session. Jessica currently lives here in DC, and Stephen lives in San Diego, so we only really had one shot at making this thing happen! I had been keeping my fingers and toes crossed all week long that the weather would all work out, and while it was 22 degrees when I checked my phone in the morning, the sun was shining, and the wind wasn’t too out of control. PHEW! These two absolutely rocked their time in front of the camera, and I am so thankful that our paths crossed during this sweet season!
Now… onto the good stuff: Some of my FAVORITE images from their Jefferson Memorial engagement session!
When I arrived to the Jefferson, I knew it was going to be a GOOD morning! Mother Nature was putting on one heck of a show in the sky! We got started with views of Washington! (and their sweet girl, Rosie, was SO good!) These views will never get old! Sweet Rosie girl is my favorite 💕
The grand white pillars at Jefferson are literally what dreams are made of! One of my favorites! Ok but can we talk about that RING! 😍
