I knew I was going to love these two from the moment I met them! I remember pulling up to meet Kerri & Matt for their engagement session way back in September, and two seconds after I gave them their first hugs, I was spraying wrinkle release all over Kerri’s adorable engagement session dress. Needless to say, this broke the ice quickly, and from there on, we’ve felt like old friends! (I’ve also taken to using her beloved Downy Wrinkle Release and am SO thankful that she introduced me to it! Anyways…) We came full circle when I arrived to pick up her details from the space where the women were getting ready earlier in the day. There sitting on the table next to her detail bag was a giant spray bottle of wrinkle release! Though she wasn’t planning to use any on her own dress, she made sure to be stocked up for her bridesmaids, just in case any of them needed it!
Kerri & Matt’s wedding day was an absolute dream from start to finish. These two spent a lot of time digging into what was important to them as they worked to plan their wedding day. They included family heirlooms and special personal pieces throughout their decor and attire, selected an absolutely stunning venue right around the corner from their family brewery (for an easy commute to their after party!), chose the most amazing group to make their florals (more on this later!) & ensured that they were surrounded by their closest friends and family throughout their day.
Most of all though, I loved seeing just how EXCITED these two were to OFFICIALLY become husband and wife! They were both super giddy all morning, and when it finally came time to share their first look, Kerri actually sprinted towards Matt… he was already getting teary before he even saw his bride! Their walk down the aisle was equally as heartfelt, and right after they recessed from their ceremony, Kerri exclaimed: “I CAN’T BELIEVE I JUST MARRIED MY BEST FRIEND!” They truly balance each other in the best way possible.
Kerri and Matt were set up by a family friend, and the first time they met at a party, Kerri spent the night hanging out with the little kiddos and didn’t spend much time getting to know Matt. Matt left soon afterward they met for the first time (and all of their friends may or may not have wished they had spent the evening getting to know each other!!!). Soon though, they had their first date, and after that first date, the rest was pretty much history! They truly are the other’s best friend… they both know just how to make the other laugh, they light up when they are around each other, and they both share the same genuine and kind spirit.
It was such a joy to spend the day celebrating this brand new season for Kerri and Matt. I can’t wait for you to get a sneak peek at some of my favorites from their wedding day at Auburn Heights Preserve!
I died and went to heaven when I saw Kerri’s dress… y’all 😍 Y’all… how cool is this?! Matt’s wedding band glows in the dark! I love when brides opt to include sweet family heirlooms on their wedding day 💕All of the girls in Kerri’s family have worn this ring! Kerri, you sure are loved! When your dress has this many layers, you twirl to your heart’s content! Matt loves cars and also drives stick shift… how perfect are his cufflinks?! Matt looking dapper! Time for Kerri’s first look with her dad! (with her mom looking on close by!) Look how proud he looks! Now… onto one of the sweetest first looks I may have ever photographed! Kerri SPRINTED to her first look with Matt, and Matt was crying before he even saw her! There was so much joy. And then we proceeded to have over an HOUR of time to explore the gorgeous property for bride and groom portraits… y’all, this never happens, and it was a DREAM! Surprise Celtic Knot to honor Kerri’s Irish heritage! This property is just stunning! THESE TWO… … I can’t even! Ok… now a quick story on where these gorgeous bouquets were made! Kerri & her bridesmaids’ bouquets were made by students at the Networks School for Employable skills. The Networks School is designed to provide students with training for employable and technical skills. Many of their students have unique learning needs, and by learning and practicing specific skills, with the goal of obtaining employment after graduation, Networks students are empowered and encouraged to find working independence in their adult lives.
More specifically though, students in the Floralworks program made her bouquets! Students in the Floralworks program are taught floral design as well as the care and handling of flowers and plants… if you ask me, they all deserve A’s this semester! Sweetest flower girl in her unicorn dress!!! One of Kerri’s cousins officiated their ceremony and did an incredible job! Kerri walked down the aisle to the Game of Thrones Theme Song, and Matt’s reaction was just the sweetest. This theme has never made me teary… until this moment! (I was very thankful to have my camera to block my happy tears!) Married!!! These two recessed to one of my favorite Ben Rector songs, and their absolute JOY was so contagious! A few married portraits at sunset!! And then off to their reception! Kerri & Mat work at a family owned brewery, and one of their local vendors brought hops to be included in their reception decor. I loved how they tied so many personal touches in throughout the day… the clocks you see throughout their decor were borrowed from her grandfather! So much thought was put into every piece of the day! And then it was party time!!! My favorite receptions? The ones where an ice cream truck pulls up to serve dessert! Thank you, Kerri & Matt, for allowing me to be part of your amazing celebration!
