I’ve been keeping this a secret for a full WEEK now, and I finally get to share with you what it is I’ve been working on!!! Lauren and Fabian deserved plenty of time to share the news themselves with family and friends… and now, I get to share with you that SHE SAID YES!!! Yes, friends! I got to photograph their surprise proposal at THE Jefferson Memorial! (PINCH ME!) Now… let’s back up.
I’ve spent the last couple of weeks coordinating with Fabian to plan the sunrise proposal that he’s been dreaming of sharing with his love, Lauren. Because they were going to be in DC for a visit all the way from TEXAS, we planned everything via Facetime, email, and good old iMessage (complete with labeled photos and diagrams of the area!). Fabian knew that he wanted their proposal to be something super sweet & memorable, and if you ask me, I think it was just that! Whenever Fabian is taking Lauren on surprise dates, he often blindfolds her or has her close her eyes to keep the destination a surprise. So… for their proposal, he really wanted that to be involved. When they arrived near Jefferson, he blindfolded Lauren and guided her to the perfect spot along the water’s edge. When he let her know it was time to take her blindfold off, he was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring in hand & one very important question to ask!
Lauren and Fabian met while playing soccer when they were 8 years old (!!!). Their families spent plenty of time together throughout the years, and then they started dating when they were 15. After 10 years of dating, attending college together at A&M, grad school in Houston, an infinite number of soccer games, puppy snuggles and adventures in between, Fabian decided it was about time he asked Lauren to be his WIFE!
It was such an honor to capture this moment & I am sending these two SO much love as they begin the wedding planning process! Enjoy a little peek into our morning together!!
I don’t know if I will ever get over the views at Jefferson!!! I must have looked like a crazy person to all of the joggers passing by! I was crouched behind the railing of the bridge that overlooks the Jefferson & Tidal Basin with a super long lens in hand!
