I think it goes without saying, but Becky and Sam are two very special people. They’re kind and caring… they think about others before themselves… they love each other so, so well. They surround themselves with some of the warmest and most genuine souls, and they work tirelessly each day to make the world a better and more inclusive space for all. And now… they’re husband and wife!
When it came to planning their wedding day, Becky and Sam thought of just about everything to make their day so incredibly special and unique. They chose to incorporate so many moments to highlight how unique they are as a couple and to honor their families’ traditions. From getting ready and sharing their first look on Becky’s family property, to their interfaith ceremony celebrated in part by Sam’s dad, to donations made to their favorite organizations in lieu of wedding favors, to the fun Penn State Blue Band traditions they incorporated into their reception (just wait!)… y’all, there were far too many sweet and thoughtful moments to list! It was so evident that these two thought through every last detail and worked hard to ensure that their wedding day was an intentional and special day for them as a couple, for their families, and for each of their guests.
I arrived at Becky’s home bright and early on Saturday morning, where I was greeted by her sweet mom who helped me find all of the best spots for photos inside and around their home. The girls were still at the salon getting their hair and makeup done, so we had the house all to ourselves and it was so meaningful to hear her mom reflect on how proud she is of her daughter. (Rightfully so… Becky is pretty darn amazing!) Becky’s family home is on the most gorgeous piece of land, and this is where she and Sam shared their first look and a few wedding day gifts with each other.
Their interfaith ceremony celebrated the joining of both of their faith lives and had elements of both Christianity and Judaism. I know these Becky and Sam have been planning their ceremony for a long time, and it was so incredible to see how these two honored the blending of their lives and their faiths in such a special way. You can tell that these two are truly grateful and excited to be taking on life together as a team. More than anything though, I loved hearing their friends and family share about what makes these two so unique throughout their wedding day. Becky and Sam? They’re activists and fighters… believers in equality for all, fierce feminists, and are never afraid to stand up for what they believe is right.
These two are going to change the world together… but first, a peek into their incredible wedding day!
Becky’s mom sewed Sam’s yarmulke… how sweet is that?! Just wait until you see this year’s behind the scenes recap to see where I shot this photo!! Becky got ready in her family home. I just love that she stepped into her wedding gown where she grew up! Sweet sisters! Isn’t Becky’s dress just perfect?! Quick first look with the women closest to Becky! Sam made one dapper groom! Time for Becky & Sam’s first look! These two were SO joyful all day long! Love these two!! This crew was so fun all day long! Their ceremony incorporated so many items that honored their families! Married!! I’m still not over Becky’s dress!! Off to Hershey Country Club for portraits and the party!! These bouquets are so stunning! Love them with the blue! We got the most STUNNING light for Becky & Sam’s married portraits!! One of my FAVORITES!! Time for the party! SO much joy during Becky & Sam’s first dance! Becky is so incredibly talented when it comes to music! This crew prepped, practiced & performed the sweetest song for Sam! Now… I can’t even to begin to explain how FUN this part of their reception was! Becky and Sam are Penn Staters and met during their time in the Blue Band. Becky’s parents were both in the Blue Band, Becky’s sisters were in the Blue Band, and SO many of their family and friends were in the Blue Band too! So… they all brought their instruments and PERFORMED. It was just like being back in Beaver Stadium! We Are!! Love these two to pieces! Don’t mind my crazy end of wedding day hair!
