Intimate, family-only ceremonies sure are something SPECIAL, y’all— I’m so excited that I have a few on my books this year! Meet Cheyney and Alex! These two officially became husband and wife this weekend with a few close family members as witnesses, but their story actually began at work! They both work for the DoD and were taking an introductory training class in their first few months on the job. Alex happened to sit next to Cheyney during the class, and well, the rest is history!
Alex loves Cheyney’s support and authenticity… he loves her passion, honesty, and the fact that she is always there for him too. Cheyney loves the fact that Alex is the perfect complement to her personality. Alex keeps Cheyney grounded and has always felt like home to her. He knows just how to keep her calm when she’s feeling a little overwhelmed. He knows how to love Cheyney through patience, understanding, and small gestures of love like bringing her a glass of wine to her from the kitchen after a long day.
COVID may have changed their wedding plans many, many times, but they FINALLY said I do this past Saturday and are officially husband and wife! Their intimate ceremony was the first of a few amazing celebrations for them, with a few more events coming at a later date when it is safer to be with larger groups. This past Saturday, a few close family members gathered to celebrate these two while many friends and family members gathered via Zoom to witness. I got to spend just a few hours with these two, but during that time, I got to see how well these two love each other and how loved they are by their families. From the care that Alex took to perfect their cake table in his suit and tie with his dad just before marrying Cheyney, to the fact that I don’t think I saw Cheyney without the biggest smile on her face from start to finish, to Cheyney’s sister navigating and setting up the Zoom stream, to their cheers and toasts and topping off of champagne glasses… it was a simple afternoon, but it was absolutely perfect and filled with so much joy.
I got to photograph these two as they officially became husband and wife, and right after, we got to explore Old Town Alexandria for portraits. It was SO much fun, and I just can’t wait for you to meet this sweet pair and their fam! Enjoy a few sneak peeks from their intimate wedding day in Alexandria, VA!
Saying hello to everyone at home!! Time to get these two married! OFFICIAL! I always love when couples are able to show off their new bling post-ceremony! Cheyney made the most delicious spread for her family! Nothing Bundt Cakes + champagne to celebrate!!! This crew was such a joy to meet and celebrate with! Cheers to the folks at home! That’s the smile of one happy bride!! Time for some portraits! These two have waited so long to be husband and wife! Everyone in the neighborhood was honking and celebrating along with them, and it was SO much fun to see their excitement! They deserve ALL the honks, celebrations, and cheers after the stress of this year! When in a pandemic…
