It’s obvious to anyone that has spent even a minute with Elise and Ben that these two are so ridiculously in love. They truly are each other’s best friend, they love laughing together, dancing together, and can understand what the other is thinking with just one glance. I’ve known Elise for years now, meeting her when we were both living in NW DC, just before she met Ben! I met Ben for the first time at their engagement session a few weeks back, and right from the first moment I met him, I felt like I was hanging out with an old friend. These two have a way of welcoming you into their lives with their humor, quirky charm, and ability to make everyone feel special (even on their own wedding day!).
It was no surprise to me when we started the day belly laughing in Elise’s bridal suite, a sense of joy, excitement, and total contentment in the air. Elise is one of the kindest and most easy-going people I know, and she surrounds herself with people who bring out the best in her— Ben being one of them. Elise and Ben love their people, and their people love them right back. You could feel the gratitude and excitement everyone had to be there celebrating these two, many coming from the UK and all different corners of the states for their celebration. I’m still not over how well-spoken all of their friends and family are, with toasts and ceremony readings that had everyone laughing and crying. Their vows were just as sweet, a testament to how much they love each other. Their day was heartfelt from start to finish, and was the perfect way to kick off this new chapter of their lives together.
It’s rare to have a wedding day that runs completely on time… it’s pretty much unheard of to run AHEAD of timeline! We actually ran ahead of time for most of the day, giving these two plenty of time to relax and breathe before walking down the aisle. They worked hard during the wedding planning process and coordinated a wedding day that was perfect for them. Their day was warm, sunny, and spent surrounded by the people they love most. I could go on and on about how amazing their day felt without even mentioning how gorgeous it was designed. We’ll just have to let the photos speak for themselves because I can’t wait another second longer to dive into their sneaks… (WAIT until you see the gorgeous floral and greenery arch at their ceremony site and stunning vase centerpieces at their reception). Congratulations, Elise and Ben… now let’s get to the photo recap!
I learned a new favorite flower… that gorgeous statement piece in Elise’s bouquet is a protea! (Obsessed!)
The SWEETEST first look moment!
When I tell you my jaw dropped when I saw this setup…
Elise’s brother officiated the ceremony and crushed it! They also had a few special family members read throughout the ceremony which made a special moment even sweeter!
That moment when you realize you’re officially MARRIED!
And then it was time to party! Four Seasons Washington sure does know how to host a party!
We snuck away for sunset portraits down on the Georgetown Canal, and oh my goodness… it was WORTH the walk!
And then it was time to dance the night away!
Elise and Ben cut a CHEESECAKE! Absolutely obsessed!
Thank you, Elise and Ben, for having me along to photograph your beautiful day!
