One of the first things Kelsey said she was looking for as we worked to find the perfect engagement session location for her and Curtis was that she was dying to have photos on a tree-lined drive. We searched high and low for the perfect spot, and one day, I got a note from Kelsey that she thought she found THE spot! She mentioned she had booked some time at Belmont Manor, and while I knew it was going to be GOOD, I didn’t realize just how good it was going to be! From garden views, to rolling fields, the most charming home, and yes, THE tree-lined drive, Belmont Manor had everything we were looking for in an engagement session location and MORE!
Kelsey and Curtis met when they were both in school at the University of Maryland. They met in a bar, and she asked him how tall he was as Curtis is nine inches taller than Kelsey! This started a conversation, and they never stopped talking… the rest is history!
Kelsey had assumed (and hoped) that Curtis’s proposal was coming soon. They were in Bethany Beach with her family, and more often than not, they do happy hour on the beach. Curtis wanted to do happy hour, so they went to the beach around sunset. Curtis had said he was going to run to the bathroom and to grab a jacket, so she stayed behind and enjoyed her beer and the views. A friend had called her earlier in the evening, so when Curtis left to run back, Kelsey called her friend back. Kelsey confessed that she really thought they were about to get engaged but the signs weren’t pointing there. She was in the process of complaining to her friend when she looked back and saw Curtis coming down the beach in a blazer. She saw their parents in the distance and hung up the phone super fast… Curtis got down on one knee and asked Kelsey to marry him! She cried the whole time, and once she said yes, they went back to their parents and had some wine and dinner at a nice restaurant close by!
The day of their engagement session, I could tell that we had the chance of some rain in the forecast, but it looked like we should be okay during their session. We may have had a few sprinkles here and there, but these two took it all in stride! Once the sun had set and we were on our way home, I hopped in the car, and almost immediately the clouds opened up and we had one of the craziest downpours I’ve seen in a while! It was seriously meant to be, and I was so grateful that the storms held off until we were done!
Enjoy a sneak peek into this GORGEOUS engagement session with Kelsey and Curtis at Belmont Manor— I cannot WAIT to celebrate with these two in April 2023!
