When I say I get to work with some of the kindest and most genuine people, I mean it! Bridget and Pat are one of those couples that put you at ease when you are in their presence. They’re easy going, understanding, so incredibly fun, and well prepared. (More on that last one in a minute!) They have tight knit families, love to laugh together, and are so, so in love.
Their chemistry was obvious during their Philadelphia Museum of Art engagement session, and to say it was a blast to have them in front of my camera would be an understatement!
Bridget and Pat go way back… like way WAY back. They actually met in FIRST grade! They went to school together from first through eighth grade when they parted ways to go to all girls/all boys high schools. Bridget just so happens to be best friends with Pat’s twin sister, so they kept in touch! They dated here and there throughout high school and college and settled into something more serious in recent years.
Fast forward to this past summer, and Bridget and Pat were visiting the Jersey Shore. Bridget’s grandmother took her to the North Wildwood lighthouse every summer, and she has so many fond memories there. Little did Bridget know, she was about to have ANOTHER incredibly fond memory at the spot of many of her childhood memories!
Bridget and Pat had a special dinner planned for a huge milestone for Pat, and they stopped by the lighthouse while they were out. He got down on one knee to propose, and after Bridget said YES, they went and celebrated with 70 of their closest friends and family in Avalon! Both of their families were able to be there, and it was so incredibly special.
They will be getting married at the Philadelphia Cricket Club and love Philadelphia, so they knew that they wanted to include some super iconic views in their engagement session.
What better a spot than the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art?! We had big plans to visit the Rocky steps and some of the surrounding locations near the riverfront, but as their session inched closer, we kept being hit with potential road block after potential road block. I was starting to wonder if we were going to be able to pull it off! The week of their session, there were reports of large crowds on the stairs, the Phillies were in town for a post-season game, AND there was a chance for rain!
Bridget monitored everything the week of their session (See… I told you they were prepared!!). I was SO grateful for her advice and updates… especially when it came to the Phillies traffic!
I work in cities often, but their session would be my first in this particular (And popular!) location! City sessions take a little more planning because there are so many factors at play. With a spot as gorgeous and iconic as the Philly Museum of Art, I was really hoping everything would come together!
When the day of their session was here, the crowds had cleared, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and while we all hit a little traffic from the Phillies home game, a win (and an earlier departure time for all of us!) made this a total non-issue. In short, it was meant to be!
We covered some serious ground during their engagement session!
The steps at the museum are THE Rocky stairs, and the area is not exactly flat. These two were actual champs… down for anything, even if it meant pulling a few moves that were probably part of Rocky’s training program. We started out on the steps before heading down to Fairmount where we found some incredibly dreamy light! I knew that epic Philly skyline views were an absolute must, but I also knew that it needed to be almost sunset for them to happen! We explored down near the riverfront before scaling the side of a hill and all of the steps at the Philly Museum of Art for sunset views on the museum stairs.
Thankfully, there were many tourists playing the Rocky Theme, so we had a little background music to accompany our adventure.
When we reached the top of the steps, the sunset was PERFECT for capturing the view! Before you see the photos, I just have to mention that Bridget did the entire hike in HEELED BOOTS, and neither of them complained once! Seriously… these two are CHAMPS, and I am so grateful for their determination to get the shot because… just wait! (It was AMAZING!)
If their wedding day is half as sweet as their engagement session, I know it is going to be one for the books! I am already counting down the days! Rumor has it, their wedding day has been inspired by T-Swift’s Lover… which if you know me, you know I’m beyond excited to see that come together! Enjoy some of my favorites from our gorgeous afternoon together!
These two are the sweetest!
I mean… how dreamy is this light?!
That late summer glow though 😍
We had to get some Philly skyline views!
We waited a while (While utilizing other locations!) for the area around this bench to clear! I fell in love with the potential composition of a wide image when I arrived early to location scout!
