From my first phone call with Kelsey and Curtis, she was convinced that their wedding day was sure to be a washout— think sideways rain, thunder, lightening… all of it. Fast forward some time, and it’s the week of their wedding! The forecast was back and forth for Saturday all week… would it rain, or would we have the perfect day?!

I started to panic the night before after a full 24+ hours of rain (and a flooded basement at my house) that we had manifested rain as our fate for Kelsey and Curtis’s wedding day, but come Saturday, the clouds dried up, the weather was soft and warm, and we had the absolute perfect day to celebrate these two!

Kelsey and Curtis’s spring wedding day at Catoctin Hall at Musket Ridge could not have been more perfect!

From the moment I arrived to the ladies getting ready suite, I knew we were in for a fun day! They were organized, sipping on mimosas, and jamming to some Taylor Swift while hair and makeup was finishing up. Throughout the day, it was so evident that Kelsey and Curtis are so loved by their people. They were hyping them as much as they were helping them which made the day that much sweeter (and easier for all involved!).

After sipping a few more mimosas, the gals got dressed in their gorgeous white and blue floral bridesmaids dresses (Which… gorgeous! More of this look, please!) and we all headed over to Catoctin Hall for finishing touches and Kelsey and Curtis’s first look!

Kelsey and Curtis shared their first look outside with views of rolling hills and alllll the gorgeous spring greenery.

We had a bit of time for couple’s portraits before their wedding party joined us! Kelsey’s bridesmaids were dressed in gorgeous white and blue floral gowns while the guys complemented Curtis’s light blue suit in fabulous navy suits! Their looks popped perfectly against the rolling hills in the background at Catoctin Hall!

The day continued with an outdoor ceremony, surrounded by their closest family and friends as witness!

Their ceremony was officiated by Curtis’s brother who did a wonderful job. I always think it is so special when a couple is married by someone so close to them! Kelsey and Curtis wrote their own vows, and while I’ll never be able to pick favorites between weddings, theirs are definitely top on the list of some of the best vows I’ve ever heard! They were the perfect blend of heartfelt and sweet… shared just enough to get to know the two of them and their love a little better and were just emotional enough to leave everyone’s eyes a little misty.

After their ceremony, the party continued with signature drinks and delicious eats during their outdoor cocktail hour. After a few rounds of drinks and some celebratory hugs, everyone headed inside for dinner, toasts, drinks, and finally, DANCING! Kelsey and Curtis let me know that they were very excited for this portion of the day and they, and their guests didn’t disappoint! They had a special parent dance to open the dance floor, and the party continued from there!

Prior to couple’s wedding days, I usually ask them to share a bit more about their design and hopes for the day! This helps me prep and get everything I need ready for details on my side while also mentally preparing for how I’ll approach photographing the day!

Kelsey shared that they were hoping for a lighthearted, effortless, and understated wedding day at Catoctin Hall at Musket Ridge.

You could tell that they worked so hard during the planning process because their wedding day was just that— it felt effortless for all involved, simple yet elegant, and such a joy to be part of. While it was so much fun to celebrate these two becoming husband and wife, I can only imagine that what’s next for them is pretty sweet too! Starting with their honeymoon in SPAIN!
