May was a BUSY month for CKP, but I’m pleased to share that you are officially looking at the final session from a month that meant so much to me! After this, we’re onto JUNE and recapping all of the pretty that my summer portrait season had to offer. Before we do though?
We’re walking through Emily’s gorgeous grad session at the UMD College Park campus. Back in May, she turned her tassel and tossed her cap as she officially graduated from UMD College Park! Just a few weeks after graduation, we got together to keep the celebrations going with a beautiful grad session around campus.
Emily graduated from UMD in May with a degree in Psychology & Criminal Justice.
She has plans to continue her education in law school! During the latter half of her college life, Emily served in a pivotal role at the Office of Student Orientation and Transition. She found immense joy in guiding new students, helping them navigate their new environment, and fostering a sense of belonging.
Undoubtedly, graduation marks a significant milestone in every student’s life, but Emily decided to capture this milestone in a unique manner.
She chose to have her graduation portraits taken after her graduation ceremony, a decision that turned out to be something that I now wish more grads would be open to doing! With students gone for the summer, campus was free of the usual hustle and bustle… and the BIG, iconic grad locations were open for us to have all to ourselves. Campus was in its full glory, with trees flaunting lush greenery, warm summer temps just beginning to be a daily occurrence but not yet brutally hot, and hydrangea season was in full swing.
Emily’s mom came along for emotional support and was an amazing help with keeping Emily’s grad attire and bags together as we moved from location to location. We got to visit so many amazing spots which helped to incorporate so much variety in Emily’s final gallery. She is a natural in front of the camera, and I am still hoping that I one day master my lash routine like she has! (Girl has it DOWN!)
As Emily’s portrait session was coming to a close, a group of incoming freshmen appeared on the Mall, presumably with their orientation groups.
As the sun began to set, Emily celebrated her accomplishments with a champagne pop and toast with UMD’s iconic library at her back. The sound of the pop resonated across the campus, eliciting cheers from the incoming students. It was indeed a moment to remember, not just for Emily, but also for the new students who were just beginning their journeys at UMD College Park! (I can only imagine that they all will think back to this exact moment when they pop their own bottle of bubbly for their graduation!)
I know the future holds nothing but amazing things for Emily, and I am SO excited to see where life takes her! I’m not going to make you wait a moment longer to start scrolling her beautiful grad session!
