Sweet snuggles, vibrant autumn foliage, and the iconic landmarks of Washington, D.C. – what could be more romantic for an engagement photo session?! Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the National Mall, J&J’s engagement session was a celebration of love and a testament to the power of connection. Join me on a journey as we explore their heartwarming love story and the stunning images that captured the season of their engagement!
J&J’s story began years ago during their college days, when they first crossed paths.
However, it was not until the pandemic hit that their paths intertwined once again, this time through the virtual world of online dating. Reconnecting on Hinge, they decided to give love a chance, and it turned out to be the best decision they ever made.
Their first date was a hike, chosen for its safe and socially distanced nature. Little did they know that this casual outing would mark the beginning of a beautiful, lifelong journey together. As they hiked and got to know each other better, sparks started to fly. At the end of the date, one of them mustered the courage to ask for a kiss. It was a short but sweet moment that left them both excited and eager for what the future held.
J&J’s love story had a slow start due to the distance and separation that the pandemic brought. That said, the distance and limitations imposed by the pandemic allowed them to focus on building a solid foundation of trust, communication, and shared experiences. Though physical proximity was limited, their emotional connection flourished, laying the groundwork for a love that would withstand any challenge.
As the months passed, their love story unfolded, filled with regular dates, heartfelt conversations, and dreams of a future together.
With love flourishing, J&J began to discuss their future and the possibility of marriage.
Fast forward some time, and these two were engaged under the moonlight on the National Mall amongst the beautiful columns at the Lincoln with their best friends there to witness the exciting moment!
Months after that unforgettable proposal, it was time for J & J’s engagement photo session on the National Mall!
The autumn colors painted the landscape in vibrant hues, providing the perfect backdrop for their love story to to be photographed amongst some iconic DC views. With their wedding day on the horizon, this session was a celebration of their journey so far and a glimpse into the life they are building together.
Our session began near the Reflecting Pool— paying tribute to their proposal and so many memories from their time together in DC! Continuing their engagement session, we made our way to the DC War Memorial. Lincoln’s construction had the columns closed for their session, and these two wanted to incorporate some stunning architecture, white marble, and scenes that felt classically DC without screaming TOURISTS HANG OUT HERE. The DC War Memorial was the perfect spot for just that!
We wrapped up our time on the mall with a visit to the base of the Washington Monument.
As our time together drew to a close, we made our way to the Metro stop closest to the mall! We used the platform and trains as our backdrop as these two snuggled and kissed their way to the end of their session!
The DC Metro has some incredibly unique architecture, so I’ve not-so-secretly had this on my list of bucket-list spots in the DMV for a few years now! I’m so glad these two were interested in incorporating such a unique spot into their session!
