You know those days that you just can’t help but want to relive over and over again? That’s exactly how I felt leaving Elizabeth and Chris’s wedding day at The Loom Baltimore. As they prepared to tie the knot, the forecast had us bracing for a potentially dreary, rain-soaked celebration. But somehow, through sheer luck and meticulous planning, they were able to bask in the glory of a beautiful day, filled with vibrant colors, heartwarming moments, and unparalleled joy.
Join me in recapping their day that was as colorful in palette as it was in spirit!
Elizabeth and Chris opted to get ready in adjoining suites, allowing them to share precious pockets of the morning together before the main event. When I arrived at their light-filled suite in The Hotel Revival, the hair and makeup team was already in full swing, pampering the ladies before the fun was set to start. Elizabeth, the quintessential organized bride, had meticulously planned the logistics of the day, ensuring that she and Chris could fully immerse themselves in the magic of the moment.
Once Elizabeth and Chris had stepped into their wedding day attire, it was time for these two to see each other!
The couple shared a poignant first look in the picturesque Mount Vernon neighborhood, just across the street from their hotel accommodations. Despite a brief mist that threatened to disrupt the moment, Elizabeth and Chris were so overjoyed to see each other that the hiccup the weather caused barely seemed to matter. They then snagged their vow books to exchange heartfelt, personal vows, a moment that was so special to witness just out of earshot. I love that longer lenses, allow the couple to have that intimate experience all to themselves.
With the first look and vows behind them, the wedding party soon joined the couple for portraits in the square.
Soon, family joined us, and then, it was time to board transport to head over to The Loom at Meadow Mill! We had planned to start right away with couple’s portraits, just before guests began to arrive!
Throughout the wedding planning process, a Public Storage facility had been built right next to Elizabeth and Chris’s venue. While this initially gave them pause, the exterior of the building was painted tones of THE most stunning coral. This coral-hued backdrop perfectly complemented their vibrant color palette and tied in so perfectly! Public Storage has never looked so good!
As the sky began to open up, we quickly made our way inside, just in time to avoid the rain.
The ceremony that followed was a truly special one, officiated by the groom’s uncle and punctuated by a beautiful song performed by dear friends. The way Elizabeth and Chris held each other as they listened to the readings and songs shared by their loved ones was a testament to the depth of their connection, and the joyful kiss that sealed their union as husband and wife was the perfect culmination of their ceremony.
With the formalities out of the way, it was time to party! The couple joined their guests for a bustling cocktail hour as the reception space was expertly transformed into a stunning canvas for the night’s celebrations.
Splashes of sky blue linens, citrus fruits, and bright pink and coral florals adorned the tables, while the bar was adorned with equally vibrant floral arrangements, setting the stage for an unforgettable night of revelry.
Before the dance floor opened, Elizabeth and Chris took a moment to welcome their guests and express their heartfelt gratitude, a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the evening. As soon as the music began, the couple danced their way from guest to guest, seamlessly socializing while also reveling in the infectious energy of the celebration.
Elizabeth had dreamed of a wedding day filled with color, and she and Chris executed that vision flawlessly. The vivid palette, from the sky blue linens to the coral and pink accents, perfectly matched the equally vibrant spirit of the couple, their wedding party, and their loved ones.
Among the many thoughtful details was the inclusion of pink peonies in Elizabeth’s bouquet, which had been grown on a bush from her late father’s garden. They just so happened to bloom the week of Elizabeth and Chris’s wedding, giving her the opportunity to snip a few blooms for her incredible florist to incorporate into her bouquet. This touching tribute ensured that his spirit was present throughout the day, a poignant reminder that even in the absence of physical presence, the bonds of love transcend time and space.
To know Elizabeth and Chris is to love them. They are the embodiment of thoughtfulness and kindness, and their wedding day at The Loom Baltimore was a true reflection of their values and the deep connection they share.
As they embark on their next chapter as spouses (and celebrate with a trip to paradise in Greece!!), it’s clear that their love story is one destined for greatness, a testament to the power of cherishing every moment and embracing the unexpected (rain) with open arms.

35MM Film Dump
If you’ve made it this far, first… you are a CHAMP! Elizabeth and Chris’s day was one filled with so many gorgeous details and joyful moments… I had such a hard time narrowing down the images that would be used in this post! WELCOME to a BRAND NEW section that has never been seen on the CKP Blog before! (And one that may not stick around for long… more on that soon!) I’ve been pretty candid about my journey on social media as I learn how to photograph on film, and have been having a blast trying to incorporate a few frames on my new-to-me 35mm film camera when I have time throughout weddings and sessions with clients.
While I still have a lot to learn and practice, I did want to share a few of my favorite film frames from their day as just a liiiittle bonus. I already have about 5 million and one things that I want to tweak and change about my shooting style for the future (And I know I may look back on this section of the blog after mastering things months and years from now and cringe at just how much I have to learn right here and now), but for being my first time shooting color film, I am pretty pleased with the results!
Overtime, I do hope to get my film style closer to my current digital style and hope to beautifully blend the two together with even more time, ultimately creating a hybrid experience for future CKP Couples and Families! While I am nowhere near that point, that IS why I said this section of blog posts may disappear in the future! My ultimate dream is to incorporate film AND digital throughout the entire client experience, including creating a cohesive gallery where film and digital images sit close to identical to each other (With a few subtle differences that come between the mediums!). I have a long way to go until I am ready to fully send this dream, so in the meantime, I am just excited to share where I am in my film journey and what I’m creating! It’s been so much fun to feel like a photography student again! These were photographed on a combination of Portra 400, 800, and an Illford 400 black and white stock.
As a perfectionist, it’s scary to share a little something that isn’t 100% ready or cohesive with my style, but at the same time, I also love the look and feel of these images. I do plan to have them rescanned by a new lab and hope this may increase image quality a bit (So Elizabeth and Chris… if the ones in your final gallery look a little different, that’s why!) and am so excited to continue to learn how to meter and expose 35mm film— something that is so much different than the way my brain works while working with my mirrorless digital cameras!
I love the color quality that film offers— the feeling of nostalgia, creamy colors, and solid feel of the shutter as I take a photo. I’m incorporating film as a way to train myself to slow down and be intentional with every frame I take. When each frame costs money, you definitely put a little extra thought behind it! So… with all that being said, are you ready to take a quick walkthrough some of the highlights from Elizabeth and Chris’s wedding day on 35mm film?!
