Not a day goes by where I don’t think about how lucky I am to have a chance to photograph wedding days for people like Mary and Mike… these two are as joyful as they are kind, and as in love as they are grounded. They love their friends and family something fierce, evident by so many sweet hugs, selfies snapped, and sweet dance moves. I met these two on the steps of Penn State’s Old Main during fall of last year, and right away, I was struck by how right they are for each other. This was so evident throughout their entire wedding process and was especially seen through their sweet and knowing glances exchanged on the altar. They are relaxed in each other’s presence, can communicate just by catching the other’s eye, and both love Penn State!
You can tell that both tradition and family are important to Mary and Mike, evident in Mary’s family heirloom jewelry and handkerchiefs wrapped around her bouquet and the many moments celebrated surrounded their families and friends-turned-family. In fact, Mary and Mike were married in the same church where Mary’s parents said their own vows years ago. During their reception, Mary and Mike also honored Mary’s grandparents with a special cake cutting who just recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. (I mean… talk about goals!) It was so sweet to see how they decided so many pieces of their wedding day to those closest to them.
I’m not sure who these two called for the perfect weather, but their day was the perfect kind of fall day— sunny with endless blue skies, low humidity, moderate temps, and just a hint of changing color in some of the trees! When I arrived on Saturday morning, I was greeted by Mary’s sweet bridesmaids and was welcomed into their suite, bustling with hair, makeup, and all the best vibes. From there, the day was the best kind of whirlwind… filled with giggling portraits, hugs, and happy tears! Mary and Mike’s wedding party was as fun as they were helpful (my favorite kind of wedding party!), some of whom I know from Penn State (Hi, friends!). They made for an easy and stress-free day, but most of all, they made it fun! In short, Mary and Mike’s wedding day was one for the BOOKS!
I can’t wait for you to get a sneak peek at their glorious, fall wedding day in Scranton, PA! (Just wait until you see their gorgeous, golden hour photos!) Ready to dive in?!
I’ve been loving the custom button-downs I’ve seen at a few weddings this year! The sweetest first look with Mary’s bridesmaids! Mary’s mom’s reaction to the Dad + Daughter first look got me right in the feels. Married! I asked Mary and Mike’s wedding party to cheer when they kissed, and they understood the assignment for sure! Such a fun group! One of my favorites! Mary, Mike— married life looks good on y’all! Time to party! Celebrating a Penn State win AND officially becoming husband and wife like we’re all back in Beaver Stadium! Thank you, Mary and Mike, for having me along to photograph your day!
