IT’S TIME IT’S TIME IT’S TIME! Cherry blossom season recaps are officially kicking off on the CKP Blog, and I couldn’t be more excited! Brittany was one of the first creatives I met when I moved to DC. She is an incredibly talented live wedding painter, and when I think of DC’s cherry blossoms, she’s usually one of the first people that comes to mind! I’ve had a gorgeous print of hers hanging on my wall featuring Jefferson and the blossoms for just about as long as I can remember, so when she got in touch to book a blossom session, you better bet that I was fangirling hard about getting this dear friend of mine in front of my camera!
Having the opportunity to take THE cherry blossom queen’s photos had me feeling nervous but oh so excited! I’ve been lucky enough to have Brittany and Tim in front of my camera before, so I knew I would be in for a treat! These two are one heck of a power couple, but more than that, they are some of the kindest people I know! We had an amazing time exploring the Tidal Basin with their sweet pups, Bolt and, new to the fam, Ginger. In the days before Brittany and Tim’s DC cherry blossom session, I got an excited message from Brittany with a picture of a pup at DC Lucky Dog that she and Tim were hoping to bring home to their family! Fast forward a few days, and Ginger officially found her forever home and was READY to chase all the ducks and squirrels during our session.
We started Brittany and Tim’s DC cherry blossom portrait session on the shore of the Tidal Basin with iconic views of Jefferson… with plenty of pops of blooms, of course!
From there, we explored for so many of the most iconic viewpoints with the pups along for the ride. The blossoms hold a special place in Brittany and Tim’s relationship. Tim first asked Brittany to be his girlfriend at the blossoms… later to propose to Brittany amongst the beautiful blossoms. Fast forward, and Brittany and Tim had their first photoshoot with their pups as a family of four amongst the pretty cherry blossoms that hold so much meaning in their relationship! (Talk about a huge honor!)
With the help of Furever and Fur Always, Bolt and Ginger were well taken care of while just the humans were in front of the camera! Furever and Fur Always is one of my favorite groups to work with— not only are they so incredibly sweet, but they are AMAZING with pups! They coordinate the care for dogs for wedding days and photo sessions (and even did Luna’s care for my sister’s wedding day!), and I can’t recommend them enough. ANYWAYS…
This session was nothing short of a dream, and I cannot WAIT for you to scroll through all of the peak bloom pretty. Are you ready to get to scrolling?!
