Hi friends, and Happy September 3!!! (What?! Are you SURE I’m reading that right?!) It feels like time is flying crazy fast, and I’m just now getting my recap post up for August’s Wandering the District walk!
September plans are still in the works, and you can join us by clicking here!!
Now… onto August’s recap! Our group (Hi Andrew & Cassidy!! Thank you so much for coming!!) met on the steps of the Supreme Court a few weekends ago, right when the weather started to turn a little cooler. Thank goodness! We had a gorgeous sunny day with temperatures that were actually bearable. If you’ve been in the DMV over the last 4 weeks or so, you know that it has been really HOT for a long time! We’ve finally caught a break though!
This month, we were exploring around the Capitol and stopped at the Supreme Court, Library of Congress, and East and West sides of the Capitol (plus a few stops in between!). I’ve been over in this area a few times for weddings and portrait sessions, but this was my first time here just for fun!
If you are visiting for the first time, I highly recommend visiting the east side of the Capitol in the late afternoon. The sun will set behind the Capitol, making the light super dreamy and the temp a bit cooler! The Capitol Visitor’s Center is also open Monday-Saturday from 8:30AM-4:30PM. Though I’ve never visited there myself, I’ve heard great things about the view from their windowed ceiling. (Thanks for the tip, Andrew!)
I just love this part of town, with all of its white marble, intricate architecture & stunning DC views. I can’t even believe that this is right in my back yard, and it is even weirder to think about everything that has happened right on this very block. I’m just a gal that is forever forgetting that she lives in our Nation’s Capital!
We had a great time playing tourist while catching up on what’s new in our lives. I can’t wait for you to catch a glimpse at these gorgeous views, so shall we get started with the reason you’re really here: the pretty pictures?! I think so!
The views this city has to offer like y’all 😍 I photographed a sweet couple in front of this door a few months ago! It was so fun to be back! I’m just a gal that is obsessed with all of the white marble in DC… Over to the Library of Congress! This building is one of my favorites in DC! I’m not going to lie, this fountain always kind of freaks me out… We were waiting for the perfect cloud to float on by so we could grab our group picture with the 10-second timer 😂 Finally, a cloud! Don’t mind my outfit— I was already dressed for work… I don’t think I took enough pictures of the Capitol… Cassidy has been practicing with her film camera at a few of our walks, and I can’t wait to see her scans! We may or may not have had to Google what this little structure is… its the Summerhouse AKA the Capitol’s first visitor’s center. I just love this city!
Such a fun walk this month! To join us in September, click here!
