Guys…I am SO excited about today’s post! It has been SUCH a long time coming because these photos were actually a Christmas SURPRISE for Blue & Kona’s dad! (We took these photos back in NOVEMBER!!) AH I just loved being part of it! This session comes with a looong back story, so hang with me! Pet sessions aren’t normally something that I do, but when my sister asked me to do a quick session with her and her roommate’s sweet Great Danes, I literally had my bags packed and was on the road in about 5 minutes (ok maybe this is a slight exaggeration, but I was just a little over excited when she asked! Y’all know I love dogs, and I was dying for an excuse to hang out with these two).
Ok now the back story! Cari, my sister’s roommate and one of my sweet friends, took on the extremely challenging task of caring for two very large Great Danes for a year while her brother was on a deployment. This was just over a year ago!
Blue and Kona moved to a wintery Baltimore from sunny San Diego–talk about a major transition–to live with their Aunt Cari & her roommates! I always like to think of their story as one of those super cheesy feel good movie montages. Things started out a little rocky–think 120 pound dog pulling a gal in her mid-twenty’s down the streets of Baltimore–but by the end of it, the pups were an inseparable part of the gang! They fit right in, settled in to their new city lifestyle, and only chased squirrels *some* of the time. They lived in Baltimore for just about a year and recently returned to their dad in San Diego. I got to see a video of Blue & Kona just after they all reunited for the first time, and y’all, it gave me #ALLTHEFEELS. They are so incredibly happy to be back home!
My sister and her roommates love these two pups like they’re their own, and they were dying to capture a few sweet memories with them around the city before they moved back across the country! The dogs were SO good during their session, and we had so much fun touring Baltimore!
Blue and Kona are the sweetest pair, and I really do miss them so much (though, I am so happy that they are happy and back home with their dad!). They are also so expressive, love to cuddle and have no problem with resting their chin on the counter, right next to your dinner. I think one of my favorite things about both of them (or at least the one that made me laugh most often!) is that they insist on sitting on the couch with you, even if there is just about a foot of space. They will squeeze themselves literally anywhere. Blue and Kona totally made me want a Great Dane in the future!
Now on to what you are all really here for…the puppy pictures! Keep on scrolling for more! (And just so you can put a face to name…Blue is grey and black and Kona is the black and white!)
Clearly livin’ my best life over here…
We finished with a few fun headshots of the girls because…why the heck not?!
Aaand just a little #BTS shot before I let you go because this photo will forever make me giggle. I sure do miss these dogs!
