I have had this session burning a hole in my back pocket for a WHILE now! Moving, vacation, and settling definitely put blogging on the back burner, but that just means you get a super heavy dose of pretty while I get caught up this week and next! This gorgeous session happened just a few weeks ago, and oh my goodness, was it fun!
Lauren and Mike are one of my 2020 turned 2021 couples, thanks to COVID. Honestly though, even though I’m super bummed I won’t get to photograph these two as husband and wife this fall, I’m super excited that I got to see them for their celebratory pre-engagement session this year, that I’ll get to see them again for their engagement session next year, and then, we’ll get to celebrate at their 2021 wedding! How did I get so lucky?!
These two are the kind of people that make you feel at home right away. They’re easy to talk to, fun to be around, and our time together was just so much fun! I’m saving the proposal story and the story of how these two met for their engagement session blog post, but in the meantime, just know they are the absolute BEST and such a joy to spend time with! We met for some celebratory photos while they were taking a long weekend with friends down the shore.
I just love that these two took the time to consider that, not only did they want to remember this first year of their engagement, but that they also wanted to celebrate it. We got together one summer evening for some beautiful photos of these two at sunset. We laughed, and twirled, and chatted about future wedding dreams while capturing these two at two classic photo locations in Cape May. Afterward, Lauren and Mike got to sit down where they were staying with a few friends to enjoy dinner together and had a few days at the beach. If that isn’t the perfect way to celebrate and savor this season that looks a little different than what was planned, I’m not sure what is!
We started our night at Congress Hall… I’ve been going to Stone Harbor for my entire life (which is just up the road from Cape May!). How have I never been to this amazing spot?! We finished the night at the beach with a super stunning sunset and some super glow-y light. I’ve been dying to do a session with a sweet couple on the south Jersey shore for a while now, and this celebratory session was the perfect way to kick off a weekend with a few gorgeous beach sessions on my calendar.

We made our way down to the Cove at Cape May… this spot is AMAZING, and the sun sets in the perfect spot for both sand and ocean photos!
