This blog post is a special one! While I was home for Christmas, my sister and her husband surprised our family with a big announcement! They were expecting, and come summer 2023, we would be welcoming a brand new baby to the family! After lots of celebrations, a gender reveal, and a few trips to the grocery store to stock up on cookie supplies (one of the only things my sister could stomach at the time!), these pretty spring blooms popped into my mind, and I asked my sister if she would be interested in visiting them with me for a maternity session once they were in peak bloom.
Meg and Sean were more than on board, and fast forward a few months, we were actively monitoring the magnolia blossoms in our neighborhood in hopes that we could perfectly time her magnolia blossom maternity portraits and pregnancy announcement. For those that may not be familiar, these gorgeous blossoms are in the plaza right in front of the Washington Monument in Baltimore near the Marquis de Lafayette Statue (Side note: I’m sure this gorgeous stretch of Baltimore has a name, so if anyone can help a girl out, I would be forever grateful— I’ve been calling it Mount Vernon Place, but I’m not sure that’s 100% accurate!) and bloom once each spring. They’re fluffy, pink, and so beyond gorgeous! For those that are looking for a gorgeous alternative to cherry blossoms that skew a little more pink than white on-camera, the tulip magnolia blossoms may just be for you! ANYWAYS…
We kept an eye on the blossoms and eventually were able to create her gorgeous magnolia blossom maternity portraits in Baltimore in early March!
With the colder temps that came in March, the blossoms were slow to bloom, but when they did, they were STUNNING! Meg wore the most gorgeous Baltic Born dress (Which has since been added to the CKP client closet for future mamas to borrow!) and brought along the cutest Big Sister bandana for Luna. This is the first of a few planned maternity sessions, and it is still so surreal to have them in front of my camera in this capacity! My sister’s bump is growing, she’s been working hard on designing the nursery, and I’ve officially starting my Aunt stockpile of baby gifts.
I can’t even begin to express how excited I am for my sister and her husband to become parents! Enjoy a scroll through Meg and Sean’s gorgeous magnolia blossom maternity portraits!
So obsessed with that one on the right!
Luna is going to be the best big sister!
I can’t wait to meet this sweet baby in person!
Glowing!
