I don’t know if I have ever met someone who puts more heart, purpose, and intention behind what they do. Emily, of Emily Nicole Photography, is a wedding photographer and private editor in Northern VA (Who also happens to be a bride herself… her wedding day is SO SOON… as in this weekend soon!). We met for her Old Town Alexandria branding session a few months back, and today, I’m beyond excited to share a little sneak peek into her session, how she has been putting her images to work on her site, and the heart behind her incredible business.
Emily has a heart for service and centers her business purpose around legacy— something that can be seen in every step of her client experience. During her brand session, we worked to center her content on her heart for serving, her love of family legacy, her relationship with her soon-to-be-husband (and business partner!), and her intentionality and knowledge as a photographer and image editor.
We met up in the heart of Old Town, Alexandria, first kicking it off with some ice cream personality photos at and around Jeni’s, a quick stop at Carlisle House for some location scouting and on-the-job photos, and finished her session with some lifestyle and headshot imagery at the Lorian in Alexandria!
Brand sessions are typically jam packed from start to finish, and Emily’s Old Town Alexandria branding session was no different!
We made laughed, and popped peach Bellinis and made a big mess in our hotel room (don’t worry, we cleaned it up!)… all while crafting some super purposeful imagery for Emily to use to serve her photography brand! When rain rolled in mid-session and stole all of our light, I have never been more grateful (or terrified!) to be working for another photographer. Grateful because she didn’t bat an eye when I pulled out literally 75 pounds worth of lighting equipment… and also a little nervous because I knew she knew just how limited our light was getting! Fortunately, we worked a little magic together, and I’ve never been more grateful to have big, powerful strobes at my disposal!

This is about the time that all of our sun disappeared behind a cloud… and big, dark rain clouds started rolling in! Instead of panicking, we pulled out a few strobes and set up our own mini studio! It was such a fun challenge to add light to a space that got rather dark rather fast. So grateful that Emily didn’t think I was too crazy for pulling out literally 75 pounds of lights during our time together!
