Y’all… I’ve been dying to bring my camera down to The Wharf for a minute now, and it finally happened! April’s Wandering the District meetup was at… you may have guessed… THE WHARF DC! Now, I know I’m sharing April’s recap in May, but that’s just because our Wandering the District meetup happened later in the month! (This past Monday, actually— phew, April was crazy!)
I was hopeful for a warm, spring day spent down on the water, but this past Monday was actually quite the opposite! Despite being a little windy and chilly though, the views were still just as beautiful. A few in our group had emergencies day-of and weren’t able to join, so I had some time to explore on my own. Y’all, I can’t tell you how fun it was to hang out and do something that I love, just for fun! So often, I pick up my camera for work but rarely do I pick it up for fun (which is something that I am really trying to change!). I had such a great time exploring for the best views while making a mental note of all the restaurants I want to come back to try with friends later this summer.
Now… if you are looking to plan a trip to the Wharf yourself, I highly recommend taking a look at their events calendar before you arrive. There are so many fun (and free!) community events, many of which are on weekends. There’s also a water taxi to take you to other parts of the DMV (like Alexandria!!), plenty of shopping, The Anthem for live music and enough amazing restaurants to keep you full for about two months straight. There’s also plenty of garage parking, and the metro (L’Enfant Yellow/Green) is just a quick walk/shuttle ride away. The Wharf is located down in Southwest DC, just off of 395!
Because I want to keep today’s post brief, we’ll dive right into the good stuff, but If you want to learn more about what Wandering the District is and how you can get involved, click here! You can also read more about my heart behind the group in March’s recap post! Shall we begin?!
Snacks at Milk Bar to start!
These gluten-free birthday cake truffles yall… I have no words. So good! Onward to exploring the Wharf! Get ready for ALL the color, y’all! There are so many fun pavilions and event spaces! Big fan of fun murals over here! So many cute little places to sit down on the water! I spy! There is currently a bit of construction down on the Wharf… there’s an addition coming in 2022! You could definitely do a food tour through the Wharf… so many amazing restaurants! Snapped a picture of this juice bar sign to remind myself to visit at some point this summer! I loved the biking/walking lanes!
